UT-CEM Director, Michael Lewis

Michael Lewis is the Director of the Center for Electromechanics (CEM) at The University of Texas at Austin. CEM’s mission is to transition power and energy solutions into products and students into leaders by providing a collaborative research and development environment where academia, government, and industry can come together to develop system-level power and energy solutions.

Mr. Lewis has over 25 years of experience in advanced research and technology development with a focus on alternative fuels and renewable energy for transportation and stationary power applications, including hydrogen power and energy systems. His team has developed, built, and tested fuel cell hybrid vehicles and investigated other novel hydrogen energy system solutions, including hydrogen storage and compression. Mr. Lewis is currently leading UT’s efforts on the DOE H2@Scale in Texas project, which has developed a hydrogen technology R&D facility, known as the Hydrogen ProtoHub.

Liz A. Adams
UT-CEM Executive Assistant, Elizabeth Adams

Elizabeth A. Adams is an Executive Assistant with UT's Center for Electromechanics. Mrs. Adams directly supports multiple energy research programs at CEM, including hydrogen energy systems.

Mrs. Adams has a personal interest in reducing her carbon footprint. In 2019, she was named the Pickle Research Campus Recycling Champion, and was featured in a Texas Connect article entitled, "Going Green"

Through marketing efforts and community outreach, Mrs. Adams is actively advocating for a hydrogen energy economy in Texas. She looks forward to one day owning a hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle, which is zero emissions and offers longer driving ranges than her current battery electric vehicle.
