About 🀘

Right now, you have the power to directly impact a student’s future at The University of Texas at Austin. Every gift to the Senate of College Councils’ Scholarship Endowment helps ensure that Longhorns can worry less about finances and focus more on learning, leading, and thriving. Your support doesn’t just provide aid, it creates opportunity, stability, and pride that lasts a lifetime.

At The University of Texas at Austin, financial wellness is one of the most important factors shaping student success and happiness. When students feel secure in their ability to pay for school, seize opportunities, and focus on their studies, they are able to truly thrive in their academic and personal lives. The Senate of College Councils, the university-wide academic student government, works every day to strengthen UT’s academic culture, advocate for student voices, and build connections between students and faculty. But one of the most direct and lasting ways we support Longhorns is through scholarships.

Each year, Senate proudly awards five different scholarships that touch the lives of students from across campus:

  • The Academic Improvement Scholarship is designed to reward students who have shown significant improvement in academic performance and GPA.
  • The Non-Traditional Student Scholarship helps international students, veterans, parenting students, those over 25, and first-generation Longhorns
  • The William C. Powers Jr. Endowed Scholarship celebrates student leaders who embody UT’s spirit of excellence.
  • The Study Abroad Scholarship is designed to assist a student studying abroad in an upcoming academic year.
  • The Undergraduate Research Scholarship is available to all undergraduate students pursuing research on campus, whether it is professor-led or independent.

These scholarships are more than financial aid, they are a recognition of resilience, ambition, and leadership. Every recipient represents a story of a Longhorn who is able to continue their education, broaden their horizons, and contribute to the UT community in meaningful ways because of this support.

Currently, our endowment sits at $25,200, funding both the Academic Improvement and Study Abroad Scholarships. But our long-term goal is much greater. Once our endowment reaches approximately $70,000, we will be able to fund the Non-Traditional Student Scholarship as well. This milestone will not only make a difference for students facing unique challenges, but it will also allow us to increase the number of students we support every year. Growing the endowment is about building a legacy of access and opportunity that will last for generations of Longhorns to come.

As alumni, parents, and members of the UT community, you know how transformative education can be. You know the doors it opens, the confidence it builds, and the pride it instills to be part of a β€œuniversity of the first class.” By giving to this campaign, you are directly shaping the academic journeys of UT students today and tomorrow.

Every gift, whether large or small, brings us closer to creating lasting financial security for students who need it most. Your support ensures that Longhorns can focus less on financial obstacles and more on the impact they will make in classrooms, communities, and careers around the world.

Join us in building this future. Give today, and help us grow an endowment that will change lives for decades to come.
