"Plan II See the World"
Study Abroad Scholarships
Currently, less than 10% of college students study abroad during during their time as undergraduates. Yet, data shows that students who do so experience increased GPAs, find jobs faster after graduation, attain higher salaries, are highly successful in graduate school applications, and report higher levels of civic engagement. Studying abroad also help students grow personally, increasing their empathy, resilience, and what researchers call "self-concept clarity," in which students find a stronger sense of self-purpose and direction after traveling to other parts of the world..
Each of these facets are central goals in creating the curious, open-minded, empathetic citizen-scholars that the Plan II Honors Program has produced for nearly a century. Fundraising for study-abroad opportunities helps open doors for Plan II students to expand their experiences and mobilize curiosity in ways they might not have otherwise been able to do so.
The "Plan II See the World" campaign will help us expand study-abroad opportunities for Plan II Honors students by providing scholarships and travel stipends to students who demonstrate need and/or profound curiosity and drive to enrich their learning and contribute to service in other parts of the world.
Through your contribution, Plan II will be able to provide the following types of support directly to our students:
β’ A $500+ scholarship for travel to a conference or workshop for a student eager to present their research.
β’ A $1,500+ scholarship for a student who is eager to study abroad but finds it is just financially out of reach for them.
β’ A $2,500+ scholarship for a student with critical financial need who is entirely unable to participate in study abroad without support.
