The Woolfolk Center for Language Disorders Research is a research center focused on better understanding individuals with language disorders across the lifespan.
Who We Help: Language disorders affect 2-3 children in every classroom but many of these children continue to go undetected and underserved. We are on a mission to change that! We are partnered with Austin-area schools and organizations to collect comprehensive clinical profiles of children with language disorders.
How We Help: We assess the child's language, speech, literacy, processing, and social skills and track their development over time. We then use those results to help the individual child and advance our research goals. The family and the school team receives a comprehensive report of testing results so they can better understand the child's strengths and difficulties.
Our Research: We use the data we collect to better identify clinical profiles of children and chart their longitudinal growth. We have successfully recruited and tested over 100 Austin-area children over the last 2 years! However, we need to test hundreds more children to answer important questions about diagnosis and treatment.
How YOU Can Help: Your donation will help us offer this study to more families, provide free speech and language screening events to our community and spread the information we learn from this project through conferences and trainings for clinicians and educators.
Your donation directly impacts our ability to do important work for individuals with language disorders. The research at the Woolfolk Center has the potential to make major strides in improving outcomes for individuals with language disorders across the country and to impacting policy to improve the education and rehabilitation of these individuals. Your donation big or small will help us toward making a larger impact for individuals who struggle to communicate. Thank you for supporting our work at the Woolfolk Center for Language Disorders Research.
