The Senate of College Councils is the coordinating body that brings the college councils together to represent all UT students in matters related to their academic experiences, and to provide the opinions and sentiments of the college councils on academic issues to the university administration. Senate's mission is to strengthen and improve the academic culture of the university, create awareness and pride in the academic strength of the university, and ensure that The University of Texas at Austin is and remains a "university of the first classβ. As the Senate of College Councils, we advocate for all UT students by passing legislation on academic matters. We foster student-faculty relationships through events including town halls, roundtable discussions, and coffee chats with professors, and also support student success by offering scholarships and research conferences, among other resources.
Senate's Fundraising Committee 2024-2025
We are fundraising to support the 5 Senate of College Council Scholarships. Financial wellness is one of, if not the, most important factors of student happiness. The main way in which we strive to improve financial wellness at UT is through the scholarships we give out to students. We award five different scholarships every year:
- The Non-Traditional Student Scholarship supports students who come from backgrounds as transfer students, international students, veterans, students over 25, parenting students, or first-generation students.
- The Academic Improvement Scholarship supports students who have made significant improvements to their academic standing using campus resources.
- The William C. Powers Jr. Endowed Scholarship supports outstanding student leaders in the UT community.
- The Study Abroad Scholarship supports students enriching their academic experience by studying abroad.
- The Undergraduate Research Scholarship supports students participating in any kind of research during their undergraduate career at UT.
