Mindful Eating Fund

Who We Are:
We are the Mindful Eating Team, a collaborative effort between University Health Services (UHS) and the Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC). When a student is identified as struggling with an eating disorder or concerning eating behaviors, we conduct a comprehensive evaluation. This includes thorough assessments in nutrition, medical health and mental well-being by our UHS and CMHC professionals. UHS offers a physical evaluation, including relevant medical tests, to better understand the scope of the issue. Following the evaluation, students receive tailored care specific to their needs, which may include mental health counseling, nutrition counseling with a registered dietitian and, if necessary, medication.

What We're Fundraising For:
The Mindful Eating Fund is aimed at reducing the financial burden of Mindful Eating Program services for students. Many of the students who benefit from the fund are either uninsured or have insurance coverage that is out-of-network.

Your Impact:
The Mindful Eating Program is essential in providing students with eating disorders access to critical, life-saving care, including medical services, nutrition counseling and mental health support. Its primary goal is to support students in staying enrolled in school while preventing their condition from worsening to the point where expensive inpatient care—often costing thousands of dollars per month—becomes necessary.

"Without this financial support for my eating disorder treatment, I wouldnโ€™t have had the energy to fully engage in school, concentrate in class or even remember my time on campus. This assistance gave me the foundation I needed to be present and succeed in my academic journey."

"I remember feeling so stressed about how I was going to find and afford treatment when I first considered getting help. Receiving financial support was a huge relief, as it removed one of the biggest barriers to receiving treatment for disordered eating. I honestly don't think I would have been able to get help without it, and I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity because I don't know where Iโ€™d be today without it."
