The UT Austin Center for Students in Recovery is dedicated to fostering an environment where students can pursue their educational goals while receiving the support they need for their recovery journey. Our center is built on the principles of recovery capital and peer-to-peer recovery support, which connects individuals in recovery to help each other outside of clinical settings.
Our peer-supported collegiate recovery program emphasizes several key components to ensure a comprehensive recovery experience: a responsible community of students in recovery accountable to each other, recovery-supportive programming, and educational enrichment opportunities. These include scholarships, a resource library, and initiatives aimed at improving the graduation and employment outcomes for our students.
Donor support plays a crucial role in expanding programming opportunities for students, thereby enhancing their success and unlocking their potential. Our recovery-supportive programming includes student-organized and student-led peer support group meetings, group workshops, as well as sober social activities, service opportunities, and educational programming. These initiatives foster accountability, personal responsibility, and community engagement, encouraging our students to pursue their academic and professional goals. By participating in these programs, students are empowered to achieve what they once thought was impossible, ultimately contributing to positive employment outcomes and a brighter future.
"CSR has made a difference in my recovery by showing me there are other people at UT who value their sobriety as much as I do my own! Walking through west campus surrounded by remnants of drinking culture, itβs a relief to know I can walk somewhere to hang out with people who get my situation." β 2022 Graduate
"The Center for Students in Recovery has been my home on campus, the place where I was able to cultivate an identity as a student, and the reason I have been a successful one. I am so grateful for it and for your generous support." β 2023 Graduate
