Empower the Future of Energy
The Energy Institute (EI) serves as a convener of expertise at The University of Texas at Austin and across the region to enable and lead significant and strategic energy research and education. Through our energy literacy, education, student engagement, research, and innovation programs, EI helps support informed public discourse around energy while cultivating UT's interdisciplinary ecosystem of students and over 450 faculty and research staff innovating the energy systems of the future.
The Energy Institute prepares the energy leaders of tomorrow and fosters energy literacy for all through innovative and collaborative academic programs, workshops, and symposia, while connecting media and the public with campus experts. Key programs supporting this mission include the flagship UT Energy Symposium, a free public guest lecture series that meets weekly to discuss critical energy issues, and the podcast "Phases and Stages: The Texas Energy Story," which shares the stories of Texans navigating the evolving energy landscape.
Energy literacy is an understanding of how energy works, the role it plays in daily life, and its impacts on the environment, the economy, and society. With your support, the Energy Institute will expand our initiatives to foster public understanding of these interconnected components, thereby empowering people to make informed decisions about energy use and policies and promoting collaboration and innovation to solve energy challenges.
