Who We Are
Our media landscape is confronting escalating challenges — from changing funding models for journalism, to the widespread increase in mis- and disinformation, to the unknown impacts of social media and artificial intelligence.
The Center for Media Engagement is focused on envisioning a more vibrant future.
We are a first-of-its-kind center that works to understand and improve the information ecosystem for the benefit of democracy.
Housed in the Moody College of Communication, the center partners with newsrooms, social media platforms, and public and private organizations to develop research, tools, and strategies that improve media practices.

Your Impact
Your support will make a big impact on the future of our student leaders.
"This experience has not only taught me a lot about what my ambitions are, and my passions are, but it also makes me feel purposeful that all the work that I'm doing is going to a greater cause ... It gives me a lot of hope, in a way, because I know there's a lot of important work going into fixing just some of the problems that exist in the world." - Tanvi Prem, Former Undergraduate Research Assistant
"I knew coming in that this would give me a lot of experience to work with not just numbers and data, but to be able to understand how journalists can better work with everyday people, the people who read their stories, to be able to better represent them and to better understand what's going on in the world around them." - Christian Debrady, Former Undergraduate Research Assistant
Your gift will also help us work toward our mission of improving the information ecosystem for the benefit of democracy.
βThe Center for Media Engagement does essential work to help news organizations and communities understand each other in deeper, more productive ways.β - Bettina Chang, Cofounder & Co-Executive Director, City Bureau
