Help Us Grow Sustainable Opportunities in Oaxaca, Mexico!
We are a team of students from The University of Texas at Austin participating in Projects with Underserved Communities (PUC), a program that brings together engineering and social work to collaborate with communities on sustainable, community-driven solutions.
This year, we're partnering with Tejiendo Alianzas, a nonprofit organization in Oaxaca, Mexico, to support local producers working to expand their mesquite-based food industry. Mesquite pods are a nutritious, naturally sweet resource that offers opportunities for economic growth and agricultural diversification. However, limited storage infrastructure presents a challenge as producers work to increase production and reach larger markets.
Our team is working alongside community partners to design and develop an improved mesquite storage structure that will help protect harvested pods and support greater production capacity. This project builds on years of collaboration between PUC and the Oaxaca community, including previous engineering efforts to improve mesquite drying, processing, and storage.
Our goal is to raise $20,000 to support the project and help turn our designs into a lasting resource for the community. Every donation brings us closer to supporting local entrepreneurship, sustainable agriculture, and long-term economic opportunities.
Thank you for helping us make this project possible!
