The Dijkstra Scholars Program is a computer science initiative that provides financial and academic resources to students from low socioeconomic backgrounds and first-generation students to ensure their success in Computer Science.
The program provides each student with a $30,000 scholarship, distributed over four years. Dijkstra scholars are also provided specialized academic advising and peer support. We are passionate about this project because students with family incomes below $60,000 represented 42% of students who failed to meet the necessary GPA requirements to continue in computer science. This means that students with special circumstances, such as low income, make up almost half of the students who could not sustain their studies in the major.
This program helps to alleviate outside stress so that students are able to focus on their academics. Our alumni are very supportive and excited about this program, especially those that personally experienced hardships during their undergraduate studies! Make a donation today to ensure our ability to keep educating computer scientists for years to come!
