What is 40 Hours for the Forty Acres?

40 Hours for the Forty Acres is UT Austin’s annual Texas-sized day of giving. For 40 hours, Longhorn Nation — alumni, students, faculty, staff, parents, and friends — comes together to support the people, places and pursuits that matter most, amplifying their impact through collective generosity.

When is 40 Hours for the Forty Acres?

This year's giving campaign runs from 6 a.m. CT on Wednesday, May 7, to 10 p.m. CT on Thursday,    May 8

Why should I participate?

Your gift directly supports the UT students, faculty, and programs you chose—funding scholarships, advancing research and driving innovation. Every dollar, whether $5 or $500, makes an immediate impact.

Can I give to multiple areas?

Yes! You can donate to up to five areas in one transaction (select "Add another" at checkout to contribute to designations) and you can make as many contributions to support current and future Longhorns as you like!

How do matches and challenges work?

Matches and challenges maximize your gift’s impact. These opportunities are time-sensitive and rules-based. Check the challenges and matches section for details.

How else can I get involved?

Spread the word! With just 40 hours, we need all the help we can get. Use social media to raise awareness and sign up as an advocate by clicking the “Become and Advocate” button to amplify your impact.

When will my card be charged?

Your credit or debit card will be charged immediately when you make a gift.

What if I can’t find my school or program?

Use the search bar in the giving form to find your area of interest. If it’s not listed, select "Other" and specify where you'd like your gift directed in the comments box.

Do you accept employer matching gifts?

Yes! Check here to see if your employer offers a match.

What does my gift support?

You decide! With over 150 participating UT programs, you can support your college, a research initiative, or a student organization that inspires you.
