Amplify KVRX 2025

After 30 years and counting, KVRX 91.7 fm continues to prove that radio is not dead! As a fully student-run radio station, KVRX prides itself in bringing "None of the Hits, All of the Time" to listeners in the Austin area and beyond. With 5 departments, 28 staff members, and 100+ active DJ’s contributing to our 24/7 programming, our completely student-run radio station requires substantial support to keep up with our thriving community.

This year, support from Amplify KVRX will go directly toward strengthening the future of our student-run station through both technical upgrades and professional media development. A major portion of funds raised will send two KVRX representatives to the College Broadcasters, Inc. (CBI) National Student Media Conference, where they will receive hands-on training in broadcast operations, media law, production, fundraising, and station management— knowledge that will be brought back to empower our entire staff and cohort!

We are also seeking support for essential equipment maintenance and upgrades across our station, including: new cables, monitoring headphones, and playback systems like turntables, CD players, and cassette decks to preserve our commitment to physical media and improve audio quality. Our music department needs updated listening equipment and improvements to our music library sound system, while our production team requires upgraded lighting, audio interfaces, and video gear to elevate our weekly Local Live sessions, which features a majority of the 100+ local and touring artists KVRX covers each year. These investments will expand creative opportunities for students, provide industry-level training, and ensure KVRX continues to serve as a vital hub for Austin’s independent music community!
