NEW stretch goal of $35,000 from 250 donors!

Dearest Camp Shakespeare Community—

WOW! We reached our original goal of $15,000 in only five days and we wish to celebrate this success by setting a NEW stretch goal of $35,000!

Every laugh shared, every line spoken, and every friendship forged beneath the rafters of the Winedale Barn has been made possible by your generosity, spirit, and enduring love for Shakespeare and our Camp community.  This new goal makes it possible for Doc and Robin Grace to begin making preparations for the Summer of 2026— ensuring the Camp continues on forever and a day!

Our greatest hope is to reach as many new donors as possible and show UT that our program, though small, has a mighty impact! We hope you will consider sharing the link to members of your community! Can we reach 250 donors in 25 days?

Thanks to your support, we know this will be a season to remember.

Here’s to the next 25 years!

“I to the world am like a drop of water / That in the ocean seeks another drop.” Each of us finds something rare and beautiful at Camp Shakespeare—and this summer, we found it again, together.

About 🤘

Camp Shakespeare at Winedale — Celebrating 25 Years of Play!

Over the past quarter century, Camp Shakespeare at Winedale has introduced countless young people to the transformative power of Shakespeare’s words, creating a community of learners who discover their voices, build lifelong friendships, and bring extraordinary stories to life. These brave students who joined us over the years have gone on to become poets, playwrights, professors, accountants, architects, parents, translators, teachers, ranchers, and lovers of literature and play.

As Prospero reminds us, “The past is prologue,” and now is the time to ensure that our next 25 years shine as brightly as the first!

Camp Shakespeare is asking for your financial support to reach our HornRaiser goal of $15,000. Your donations guarantee that twenty-nine students from across the world can experience the same joy, growth, and inspiration that has touched so many before them. Additionally, your gift will allow us to share six public performances of The Comedy of Errors and Much Ado About Nothing with rural communities across Central Texas this summer.

We hope for the broadest possible support from our Winedale community: former Campers, Camper families, Winedale alumni, loyal audience members, and anyone who’s ever been touched by Winedale’s magic. We hope you will consider sharing this donation link far and wide—just click the "Copy to Share" button at the top of the page and paste the link wherever you'd like! After you donate, we hope that you will join us this summer to experience these radiant performances firsthand and be a part of the magic you’ve made possible.

Together, we can ensure that the transformative power of Camp Shakespeare at Winedale continues to thrive “forever and a day.”

About Camp Shakespeare at Winedale

Founded by James B. “Doc” Ayres, now led by Robin Grace Soto, Camp Shakespeare is an arm of the renowned Shakespeare at Winedale program, also founded by Doc Ayres, in the Department of English at UT Austin in the Fall of 1970. Both programs offer its participants much the same experience: the challenge of playing out ideas on stage; the revelation of Shakespeare’s language by embodying it; the discovery of inner strength through study, play, and hard work; and the gift of friendships destined to last a lifetime. Camp Shakespeare provides this richness of experience and meaning in the crucial period of adolescence.
